Classes, Workshops and Mentoring
Teaching is one of the most rewarding aspects of being an artist. I can share my knowledge, and help aspiring artists to grow their own practice. It is also a learning experience for me, as we explore new ways of seeing, new techniques of painting, and new means of expression.
Classes
I offer two types of classes: One for landscape study and one for exploring abstraction.
Each is a five week course, two hours each session. As my studio is small, classes are limited to three participants. All classes are conducted in a supportive and respectful atmosphere, with plenty of time for feedback and discussion. Contact me if you are interested .
landscape fundamentals
Create landscapes with soul, while studying the basic principles of acrylic painting. We will discuss perspective and draftsmanship, while learning how to simplify using design and composition.
Build up up your paintings with layers using value as a tool, brushwork as emphasis, and learn how to mix and use colour to maximum effect.
$60/2 hour session/$300 full 5 week class
abstraction explorer
Expand your knowledge and creativity using acrylic paint and a variety of unconventional mediums.
Beginning with mark making, and using principles of composition and design, we will explore techniques for bringing colour, texture and creativity into abstract paintings.
Bring your apron, an open and inquisitive mind, and a sense of play!
$60/2 hour session/$300 full 5 week class
Workshops
Occasionally during the year I hold six hour workshops . These are very intensive sessions, where you can choose to work on a specific project, or simply to go deeper into the painting process. Bring your paints, your ideas, your creativity and a strong work ethic! I will help you to develop your concepts and bring your work to fruition in a timely manner.
$160 full day
Mentoring
In a friendly and supportive environment, we will meet one on one to discuss your paintings. During this session, constructive feedback on your work will allow you to gain a fresh perspective as you develop your personal voice. We will identify strengths in your work and discuss ways to further develop your practice. This can be a one time session of one hour, or a continued mentorship where we meet periodically to explore your progress.
